Launch of Twinning Project on Strengthening the metrology system in Azerbaijan

The European Union (EU) and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSMP) are launching a Twining Project.
SCSMP will partner with a consortium from the Czech Republic - the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI) and Germany - Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) to modernize and strengthening the metrology system in Azerbaijan.
The project will be formally launched at a kick-off meeting on 3rd March 2016 at the Holiday Inn hotel, Keykab Khanim Safaraliyeva street 5 AZ 1010, Baku at 10:00 a.m.
A press conference will be held at 11.00 a.m.
The Overall Objective of the Project is to support access by Azerbaijan to world markets through the development of a metrology system in line with EU and international best practices in standards, norms and processes in the field.
The Project Purpose should build the capacity of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSMP) in the field of metrology to comply with the requirements of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The €1.200000 project will run for 2 years.
The project includes expert missions, training and awareness raising visits/events.
The project will be supervised by 2 project leaders – Mr. Vladimir Ludvik from the Czech Republic and Mr. Oktay Abbasov from Azerbaijan Republic.
The meeting will be attended by Ambassadors of the Czech Republic and Germany in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the European Union Delegation in Azerbaijan, as well as the representatives of the beneficiary country institutions and representatives of Member States accordingly.
