From 1 to 3 June 2026, the Azerbaijani capital once again became a hub of global energy dialogue. The prestigious Baku Energy Week 2026 brought together three major events under one roof – the 31st International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the 14th Caspian Power Exhibition focused on energy and renewables, and the 31st Baku Energy Forum, a key discussion platform addressing strategic energy issues.
The event confirmed its strong international significance, highlighted by the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, I. Aliyev, at the opening ceremony. In total, 274 companies from 44 countries attended, including leading global energy players, investors, and government institutions. Approximately 60% of exhibitors were international companies, reflecting the growing global interest in Azerbaijan’s energy sector. The Baku Energy Forum hosted around 600 delegates, including numerous energy ministers and other high-level officials.
A key outcome of this year’s edition was the conclusion and announcement of a number of major contracts and investment agreements, with a total estimated value of USD 7.5–8 billion. Among the most significant was a long-term gas supply agreement from the Absheron field, covering 33 bcm over 15 years, with a potential value of USD 8–12 billion. Another major investment decision was announced by BP, which unveiled the Shah Deniz Compression project worth USD 2.9 billion, aimed at further development of one of the region’s largest gas fields. In addition to traditional fossil fuel projects, agreements were also reached in renewables, digitalization, and critical raw materials, confirming Azerbaijan’s gradual energy diversification.
The program also featured thematic discussions on energy transition, security of supply, and infrastructure development. Notably, a meeting of energy ministers from the D-8 countries was held for the first time, signaling Azerbaijan’s growing ambition to play a more prominent role in international energy cooperation.
The Czech Republic was represented by TES Vsetín, which showcased its technologies in electric machinery and the energy sector. Other Czech companies, including Wikov Industry, Sigma Group, I.B.C. Praha, and Mavel, were also actively involved, conducting business meetings and exploring cooperation opportunities.
With their product portfolios ranging from electric drives, energy equipment, mechanical transmissions, turbines and compressors, industrial valves for pipeline systems, to pumping technology, Czech companies are well positioned to cover the full value chain – from extraction and transport to processing of oil and gas.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baku recommends creating a joint stand of Czech companies as part of economic diplomacy support (PROPED) at the next Baku Energy Week 2027.
