Czech participation in the exhibition "What Will We Wear in the Future?"

Czechia participated in the successful exhibition "What Will We Wear in the Future?", which took place within the framework of the so-called "Platform Culture Central Europe" (PCCE) at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, on April 9, 2025. The works of three students from the Prague University of Applied Arts were presented.

The "Platform Culture Central Europe" (PCCE) was founded in 2001 within the framework of a conference of countries associated in a regional partnership that now includes Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland. The Platform aims to raise awareness of the cultural life of its members, both within the EU and beyond.

Under the current Hungarian Presidency of PCCE, Azerbaijan with its deep history and rich tradition of weaving and its renowned textile industry was chosen as the perfect location and host for the theme of this year´s exhibition.

At the exhibition "What Will We Wear in the Future?" the Czech Republic presented a collection of three necklaces by Ms Emma Bártová called "Why are you so quiet?". This collection focuses on the invisible inner world of introverts. It presents jewellery that expresses the quiet yet profound dialogue between the wearer and the surrounding world. Ms Katarína Nábilková's collection of textile objects under the title "My Memories" is made in the familiar shapes of "Czechoslovak C's". And finally, the aim of the third collection by artist Ms Jana Novotná, entitled "Key Nonsense", is to explore the connection between everyday objects and their sound. As the result, a series of pendants made from personal items has emerged.

Czech Ambassador Milan Sedláček actively participated in the opening of the exhibition and other PCCE events.

The exhibition took place in the architecturally unique building of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. In addition to a unique collection of carpets (the Azerbaijani weaving art is in the list of Intangible Cultural World Heritage), the museum also has an extensive collection of national costumes.
