Czech Embassy in Baku, in cooperation with Azerbaijani photographer Aydin Sadikhov and director of the Baku Evrika Science and Technology Lyceum, Elvin Badirov, organized a photography exhibition entitled “Czech Puppetry Art” for the students of this school. Through the exhibition, children became acquainted with one of the classical elements of Czech national culture—the art of puppetry, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The exhibition was opened on 8th December, 2025, in the cultural hall of Evrika.
Evrika is a science and technology lyceum (implementing the international STEAM program—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) included in the international education framework of Cambridge Assessment. In addition to Azerbaijani as the mother language, teaching is also provided in Russian, English, and Turkish sections, and French and German are also taught.
At the opening of the exhibition, introductory remarks were delivered by the Czech Ambassador Mr. Milan Sedláček and the school’s director, Mr. Elvin Badirov. The opening program also included the screening of two films about the cultural and natural heritage of Azerbaijan and Czechia. Students of Evrika performed both Azerbaijani and Czech national dances. Last but not least, they prepared and nicely performed on stage a theatrical play based on the legend of the origin of Charles Bridge.
Czech Embassy in Baku highly appreciates the school’s interest in Czech culture, the warm and friendly welcome extended to the representatives of the Embassy, as well as the excellent preparation of the theatrical performance and dance program.
