Awards to Azerbaijani participants of the 52nd International Children's Art Competition “Lidice”

Czech Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Milan Sedláček presented diplomas to the awarded children of the 52nd edition of the International Children's Art Competition “Lidice”. In his speech, he explained the history of the competition and reminded that this year´s May 8 marks exactly 80 years since the end of the biggest global conflict - the Second World War in Europe.

The International Children's Art Competition “Lidice” (https://www.mdvv-lidice.cz/) was established to commemorate the memory of the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice, which was razed to the ground by the German Nazis in 1942, and to honor all other children who perished in the war. Ambassador Milan Sedlacek recalled the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and reminded that such a past should never be forgotten so that it does not happen again. This memento proves to be especially relevant at the present time.

The meeting with the children, their parents and also teachers of the awarded schools took place at the Embassy on May 6, 2025. The theme of the 52nd edition of the competition was "Caravan" and the additional themes were "Post" and "Communication".

The winners from Azerbaijan were Akbar Mutalibov (13 years), Fatima Rasulzadeh (11 years), Shamil Ramazanov (12 years), Zahra Shukurzadeh (13 years) and Fatima Amirova (15 years).
