Czech Beer Day for the third time in Baku

Against the backdrop of the World Minifootball Championship, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baku once again partnered with the exclusive importer of Czech beer, Azerish, to organize the third edition of the highly successful Czech Beer Day. This year, the event took place at the newly opened Yaban 61 Beer & Grill restaurant, located near the iconic Flag Square.

This year’s edition also served as the official national evening of the World Minifootball Championship, making Czech Beer Day not only a celebration of legendary beer culture but also a vibrant showcase of Czech-Azerbaijani friendship, economic ties, and shared appreciation for tradition and taste.

The evening also marked the grand opening of Yaban 61 Beer & Grill, the latest addition to the popular Yaban brand. While not a Czech restaurant per se, Yaban 61—like its predecessor Yaban Bulvar—provided the perfect setting for a festive evening that blended local atmosphere with international, and especially Czech, elements.

The event began with warm welcome speeches by H.E. Milan Sedláček, Ambassador of the Czech Republic; Mr. Vusal Sharifov, CEO of Azerish; Mr. Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of Azerbaijan (KOBIA); and Mr. Filip Juda, President of the World Minifootball Federation (WMF). All speakers emphasized the deepening economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, the tradition of Czech Beer Day, and the spirit of international unity embodied by the ongoing championship.

As always, guests enjoyed legendary Czech beers such as Budvar and the refreshing Pražačka, both exclusively imported by Azerish. The beer was accompanied by traditional Czech dishes, including goulash and schnitzels, all prepared by the chefs of Yaban 61. The evening concluded on a sweet note with classic Czech desserts, including the beloved trdelník, freshly made by the team from Trdelník Baku.

The event was supported by a number of sponsors and partners, including KOBIA, WMF, Škoda Auto, AZAL, and Twins Travel. Škoda Auto added a visual flair to the evening by showcasing its latest models, adorned with Czech and Azerbaijani motifs symbolizing harmony between the two nations.

Over the past three years, Czech Beer Day has become a beloved tradition in Baku—a celebration not only of beer and food, but also of diplomacy, culture, and community. Thanks to the success of this year’s edition and the opening of Yaban 61, the future of Czech-Azerbaijani cultural exchange looks brighter—and tastier—than ever.
