Czech Beer Day for second time in Baku

Czech beer is a traditional and much-loved part of the events organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baku. Therefore, the Embassy, in collaboration with the exclusive importer of Czech beer to Azerbaijan, has decided to create a tradition and organise the second edition of Czech Beer Day in Yaban Bulvar Restaurant on 31 May 2024.

Czech beer culture is a real treasure, with historic breweries in picturesque towns and bustling beer halls. Czech breweries are renowned for their expertise in brewing beer, from the sparkling golden Pilsner to rich lagers with flavor. Thanks to its distinctive taste, Czech beer has also become very popular among local consumers in recent years. Today, it is possible to taste Czech beer in more than 10 places. Among them is also the Yaban Bulvar restaurant, where the second edition of the Czech Beer Day took place.

The event was opened by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Republic, Mr. Martin Lubojacky, and the CEO of Azerish company, Mr. Vusal Sharifov. The occasion aimed to strengthen Czech-Azerbaijani cultural relations through insight into Czech national cuisine and consolidate our cultural bilateral ties. It was also identified as a platform where economic relations between our countries and companies could be developed.

Guests were offered a selection of beers from two Czech brands, namely Budějovický Budvar and Pražačka. To create a special atmosphere, the chef of the Yaban Bulvar restaurant, together with the Embassy staff, prepared traditional Czech treats including goulash with bread dumplings, schnitzels with potato salad or roast duck with cabbage. At the same time, there were also traditional Czech delicacies on offer, including “utopenci”, pickled sausages, which are very popular when paired with beer, and traditional desserts. The atmosphere was further enhanced by Czech music and the subsequent raffle, in which the competition for robotic vacuum cleaners of the well-known company Sencor in Azerbaijan, was held.

During the event, the guests could also observe a work of Azerbaijani fashion designer Ms. Leyla Babazade, founder of Fashion School LB. The unique dresses designed by Ms. Leyla were inspired by traditional and folklore Czech and Azerbaijani motifs and colors with a special focus on floral symbols presenting the closeness and friendship between our nations. The dresses were presented by Fashion School LB students.
