A reception on the occasion of the Czech Statehood Day took place in Baku

On September 25, 2024, the Embassy of the Czech Republic commemorated Czech Statehood Day with the participation of distinguished guests from diplomatic circles and business representatives. The ceremonial reception took place in the premises of the Hyatt Regency hotel.
The festive evening was opened with a speech by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Baku, Milan Sedláček, followed by a speech by Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzada, Director of the Department for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. Both speakers highlighted the friendly and prosperous relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan, which have flourished in recent years especially in the form of economic cooperation.
Ambassador Milan Sedláček emphasized the importance of diplomatic cooperation and mutual efforts to build peace and stability in the world, which are especially important in today's tense geopolitical situation. He praised the communication between the top politicians of the two countries and mentioned the meeting between Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Great Britain. He highlighted the reciprocal trips of the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis) Sahiba Gafarova to Prague and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Markéta Pekarová Adamová to Baku, as well as the spring trip of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov to Prague. In conclusion, he recalled the growing mutually beneficial economic ties, the importance of Azerbaijan for the energy security of the Czech Republic and important bilateral agreements, the number of which is constantly growing.
Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzada drew attention to important milestones in building good relations between the two republics, such as the 30th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations, the signing of the "Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan" in 2015, and frequent meetings of top political representatives of both countries. He also highlighted the importance of bilateral trade and highlighted specific data, such as the fact that the total trade between our countries will reach USD 800 million in 2023, adding that the Czech Republic is Azerbaijan's 3rd largest trading partner in Europe and at the same time Azerbaijan's second largest European export destination.
Guests were treated to the work of an engraver from the Czech glass company Moser, known throughout the world for its crystal, which is represented in Baku by Italdizain company. A fashion show by designer Leyla Babazade, whose collection of dresses with elements of Czech and Azerbaijani folklore, connects both cultures, also created a pleasant atmosphere.
The evening took place with the generous support of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, the companies AŽD, Budweiser Budvar, COLT CZ, CSG GROUP, ERA, MOSER, Servis-24, Škoda Auto, and Mr. Radek Pechman.
