Iraq remains a promising market for Czech exporters. The reconstruction of Iraq’s economy and society requires significant financial resources, human capital, expertise, and technology, all aimed at improving the quality of life for its citizens and strengthening the country’s economy.
The Czech Republic has long been a renowned supplier of equipment and services to Iraq. The country continues to participate in the planning and implementation of reconstruction and redevelopment projects in Iraq, and Czech companies are gradually expanding their presence in the local market.
For Czech trade and industrial enterprises, key sectors with growth potential include energy, oil and gas extraction and processing, water management, environmental protection, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, construction, education, IT and telecommunications, tourism, banking and insurance, and consumer industries.
Following the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to the Czech Republic in February, another significant step in strengthening Czech-Iraqi relations is taking place—the official Czech participation in the 10th edition of Iraq’s most important event for oil and gas, energy, environmental protection, and engineering: the IRAQ ENERGY EXHIBITION & CONFERENCE. The event, held under the patronage of the Iraqi Prime Minister, will take place in Baghdad from February 24 to 26, 2025.
This high-profile export promotion event is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, which serves as the founding body of the Czech-Iraqi Business Council.
Six industrial and trade entities will be showcased at the Czech pavilion:
- Abo Valve – Manufacturer of valves for the energy and industrial sectors
- UNIS – EPC projects in the energy and chemical industries
- Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic – Supporting business cooperation between Czech and Iraqi companies
- CDT – Czech Mining Technology Association – Supplier of equipment and services for mineral extraction and energy industries
- New Oil Generation – Innovative technologies for oil extraction and processing
- Mechania – Supplier of equipment, services, and maintenance for the energy sector
These entities offer a wide range of cutting-edge equipment and services with the aim of deepening cooperation with existing partners while seeking new partnerships and opportunities to participate in projects focused on reconstruction, modernization, environmental sustainability, and the development of new energy sources in Iraq.
