We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the assassination of Dr. Husham al-Hashimi, a respected security expert and ardent Iraqi patriot. We will remember him as a friend and excellent partner in our efforts for stronger relations between our two countries. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his family and friends. This heinous crime must not go unpunished. The Czech Republic will continue to stand firmly alongside Iraq in its fight against terrorism and on its path to peace and democracy. We are committed to this by the memory of and highest sacrifice made by Dr. Husham al-Hashimi.
