On the occasion of 60th anniversary of Czecho(Slovak)-Ghanaian relations, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Accra organised on 8 August 2019 at the residence of the Ambassador an exhibition called “Memories of Future”, mapping the life stories of past Ghanaian students in former Czechoslovakia (and Czech Republic, respectively) from the 1960s until today. The exhibition also documented the beginnings of the agricultural cooperation.
The event served also as a farewell for the Ambassador, H.E. Margita Fuchsová, the Consul, Mrs. Dana Zázvorková, and the Economic Diplomat, Mr. Tomáš Zázvorka, who are ending their mission in Accra. It was attended by more than 200 guests from the diplomatic corps, government (Minister of Roads and Highways hon. Amoako Attah), private sphere, but also by the former students themselves.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic prepared the exhibition together with Mr. Lukáš Houdek, a journalist who identified the former students, interviewed them and obtained their photos. He was aided by another journalist, Mrs. Judita Matyášová. The exhibition was introduced by Ambassador Fuchsová who was also behind the whole idea. Mr. Houdek then described the 1,5-year long preparation of the project and invited to the stage around 20 former students to share their most interesting experiences from their stay in Czechoslovakia.
The event had its special guest too, Dr. Hasmiou Dia, the Czech Honorary Consul in Guinea and a former student in Czechoslovakia, who came to bid farewell to Ambassador Fuchsová (until December 2017, the Czech Embassy in Ghana was covering also Guinea).
The exhibition is expected to be introduced also at Czech universities, notably the Mendel University in Brno.
