
Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection to the CZ

From 27th to 31st May, 2019, Ghana´s Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, hon. Cynthia Morrison visited the Czech Republic together with a delegation from Women in Tourism and Business. The aim of the visit was to gain experience from the system of gender equality support and protection of vulnerable groups of population in the Czech Republic.
Minister Morrison met with the Czech Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Ms. Jana Maláčová, Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Stašek and Deputy Minister of Health Roman Prymula. She visited also both chambers of the Parliament. In the Senate, Minister Morrison held talks with 6 Senators led by Jitka Seitlová, in the Chamber of Deputies she discussed with Member of Parliament Alena Gajdůšková. Minister Morrison also visited Jedlička´s Institute for Disabled and a kindergarten run by the National Institute for Autism.
During her trip to Brno, the second largest city in Czechia, the delegation of the Minister was received by the Czech Public Defender of Rights (“Ombudsman”), Ms. Anna Šabatová, and Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková. The Czech Embassy in Accra included in the programme also visit to the Mendel University in Brno, which has the highest number of Ghanaian students. The businesswomen delegation held parallel meeting with the president of the Czech Association of (female) Entrepreneurs and Managers, Ms. Kateřina Haring, and with the Czech businesswomen. It was a reciprocity to the Association´s visit of Accra in January 2019. Thanks to the large portfolio of Minister Morrison, her visit belonged to the most successful visits by Ghanaian representatives to the Czech Republic.
