
Czech President Petr Pavel visits Ghana

On 8-10 April, Czech President Petr Pavel paid an official visit to the Republic of Ghana. Petr Pavel is the second head of state to visit Ghana since diplomatic relations were established in the late 1950s.
The Czech guest was welcomed in Accra with an official ceremony in front of the presidential palace. Presidents Petr Pavel and John Mahama first held private talks, then were joined by members of both delegations. Both presidents highly appreciated the level of mutual relations and their talks focused on their further strengthening, particularly in the areas of security, healthcare, transport infrastructure, water management and agriculture. On the sidelines of the talks, an agreement on cooperation in the field of air transport and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries were signed.
Presidents Petr Pavel and John Mahama jointly opened a seminar, which was attended by a large number of businessmen from both countries. During the visit the Czech President inaugurated the regional hospital in Kpone built by the Czech branch of the VAMED company and the Czech House, where Czech companies will present their products to Ghanaian partners.
