From 1 to 11 December 2020, the Ambassador M. Skolil, accompanied by his Deputy H. Trousilová, visited the Gabonese Republic to present the credentials to President Ali Bongo Ondimba. The handover of copies to Foreign Minister Pacome Moubelet Boubey and the ceremony at the Presidential Palace took place in a friendly atmosphere, and were crowned by the unexpected but very welcome interest of the president Ali Bongo Ondimba in his visit to Prague. The declared personal interest of the head of state in visiting the Czech Republic gave a new impetus to the subsequent meetings. Ambassador Skolil met with the second most influential person in Gabonese politics, the president of the Constitutional Court and the president's stepmother in one person, Madame Maria-Madeleine Mborantsuo, and Minister of Health Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong. The Czech delegation also went to Lambaréné, where Czechoslovak doctors and paramedics used to work and took part in separate meetings at the French and EU embassies. Gabon is an open and secure country, considered as the gateway to an otherwise conflict-torn region. The country seems to be an ideal place for foreign investors at the moment.
