Opening of the Honorary Consulate in Lagos and meeting of the Ambassador Krejci with the Governor Sanwo-Olu

On the 17 of October, an unforgettable opening ceremony of the new Czech Honorary Consulate took place in Lagos. Ambassador Zdeněk Krejčí officially handed over the Consular Commission to the new Honorary Consul, Ms. Ajoritsedere Awosika. The Czech and Nigerian flags were ceremoniously raised next to the consulate office.

The event was attended by Nigerian dignitaries led by former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Lagos Governor H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, traditional rulers Olu of Warri and Osemawe of Ondo and many others. The opening of the new Honorary Consulate in Lagos is a significant step in building and strengthening Czech-Nigerian relations. We wish our dear Honorary Consul Dr. Awosika every success in her new role.

The Ambassador Krejci met with the Governor of Lagos at a separate meeting during his stay in Lagos. They discussed the possibilities of cooperation. The governor was particularly interested in the Czech know-how in the field of "smart city" operation management. The representative of the Czech Trade office followed up the meeting with a successful negotiation with the Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority.
