On 2 July 2020, economic diplomat Beata Matusikova met with the President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), Mr Abubakar Dalhatu, to discuss the possibility of establishing bilateral trade cooperation, especially in the field of agriculture and mining.
Kano is one of the most important and historically famous business centers in Nigeria, what is evidenced by the nickname "Kano - Center of Commerce". It is a trade link between the northern states of Nigeria with an overlap to neighboring Niger and Chad. Kano is famous by the cultivation of rice, cotton, peanuts and cattle breeding, among other things, and at the same time, due to the occurrence of minerals such as black coal, it is known by mining. At the same time, traditional textile production is developed here. With regard to the similarity with the Czech industrial and production portfolio, Kano offers a number of opportunities for developing bilateral business cooperation. During the meeting, the President and other members of the Chamber of Commerce responsible for individual sectors expressed particular interest in Czech technologies in agriculture, mainly in the field of crops production, cattle breeding and processing, and in the field of mining technologies and education of local employees in these fields.
President of KACCIMA is also ready to establish contact with the Czech Chamber of Commerce and other sector chambers of commerce and to talk to Czech counterparts in the form of a webinar.
The economic diplomat informed the Chamber's representatives about the possibility of visiting Czech companies within the framework of organized trade fairs and exhibitions or within business missions, and handed over information materials on Czech production capacities to the President of the Chamber.
