Nigeria – Bauchi State: Czech healthcare, energy and technology sectors open doors to new investments

The ten-million-strong Nigerian state of Bauchi is emerging as a new centre of economic opportunity for Czech companies. The Czech participation at the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit 2025 confirmed the local government’s strong interest in cooperation across healthcare, energy, smart technologies, as well as agriculture and eco-tourism – sectors where the Czech Republic has long-standing expertise. With its stable environment, growing infrastructure and openness to foreign direct investment, Bauchi offers Czech exporters a strategic gateway to the markets of Northern Nigeria.
At the invitation of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, H.E. Tomáš Výprachtický, together with Economic Diplomat Marie Nwanyanwu, took part in the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit 2025, where Czech companies presented innovative technologies in the fields of healthcare, energy, and smart solutions.
The Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit 2025 was inaugurated by the Vice President of Nigeria, H.E. Kashim Shettima.
The delegation included BTL Medical Devices, GC Drugs, VAE Controls, and Sahara Projects – companies already active in Nigeria and supplying modern medical equipment, energy systems, and technological solutions for industry and infrastructure. Representatives of Bauchi State expressed strong interest in cooperation, particularly in the development of healthcare infrastructure, as well as in technologies for mining, water management, renewable energy, and agro-processing.

On the initiative of the Czech Embassy, an online presentation by Ferrit was arranged for the Bauchi Chamber of Mines, bringing Czech mining technologies directly to the attention of regional investors. This step further strengthened the position of Czech industrial companies in a sector with strong growth potential across Northern Nigeria.

The northern Nigerian state of Bauchi, located in the savannah belt, with over 10 million inhabitants, represents an important market with a more stable security environment than most other parts of Northern Nigeria. The state possesses over 4 million hectares of arable land, rich mineral resources, and newly confirmed oil and gas deposits. Under Governor Mohammed’s leadership, the Bauchi government prioritises economic diversification and the promotion of foreign direct investment (FDI) in areas long relevant to Czech companies – energy, healthcare, mining, ICT, and agriculture.
