Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria as a part of celebration of its national day presented garments produced by Czech producer VEBA Textile Mills.
On October 27, 2013, at Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Czech Republic commemorated 95th anniversary of the establishment of an independent Czecho-Slovak state in 1918.
Fashion show consisted of 23 garments, manufactured from African brocade produced by a Czech producer, VEBA Textile Mills. The designer of women´s dress, Eva Helekalová, is a academically trained painter based in Prague. Eva drew inspiration from African style and European 1950´s fashion that both honour women curvy figure. Men´s clothes were designed by Nigerian designer Mitaire Igugu, based in Abuja.
VEBA Textile Mills is a traditional Czech producer of cotton Jacquard fabrics. It ranks among the most important cotton Jacquard fabric manufacturers in Europe. VEBA continues the rich tradition of textile production in the Broumov region which reaches back to the 13th century.
The company concentrates on the production of home and clothing textile goods. Nearly 90% of VEBA´s production is exported, mainly to West Africa and Europe. Nigeria knows these products under the traditional CENTROTEX trademark.
VEBA has developed African brocade with special finishes from the finest combed Egyptian cotton yarn exclusively for the African continent.
