
Mission of the Special Envoy for Sahel, Ambassador Tomáš Uličný, to Niger

In mid-May, a week-long trip of a delegation led by the Special Envoy for the Sahel, Tomáš Uličný, to Niger took place. Other members of the delegation were Deputy Ambassador to Nigeria Hana Trousilová and Defence Attaché to Algeria Filip Smolík. The high-level receptions and the content of the talks fully confirmed the particular interest of the Nigerien side in establishing bilateral cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism as well as in the field of trade cooperation. This interest was formally expressed in a letter from the President of Niger to the President of the Czech Republic asking for assistance in the fight against terrorism.

The delegation, led by Ambassador Uličný, also met with colleagues from EU Member States, including DEU Ambassador in Niamey and the leadership of EUCAP.
