Czech Republic helps in Nigeria: Toilets for IDP camp in Abuja

On September 12, 2019, an opening ceremonial of new toilets took place in the Durumi IDP camp in Abuja. The facilities were built by the financial support of the Czech Republic together with the Cardinal Onaiyekan Peace Foundation (COPF).

The Czech Republic perceives the need to help in developing countries and thus contribute to improving the living conditions of people in the poorest areas. Thanks to cooperation with the Cardinal Onaiyekan Peace Foundation (COPF), the Czech Embassy in Nigeria, through the institute of the so-called small local project, contributed financially to the construction of toilets in the IDPs camp Durumi, Abuja. People escaping from the north-eastern part of the country affected by the Boko Haram attacks found asylum in the camp. Thanks to this project, the living and hygiene conditions of local settlers and especially children from the camp school were improved.

On September 12, 2019, the opening ceremonial of these facilities was attended by representatives of the Peace Foundation, refugee camp administrators and economic diplomat of the Czech Embassy Ms. Beata Matusikova.
