Czech defence and security businessmen visited Cameroon

From 13th to 15th July 2021, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic carried out a business mission (PROPED) to Cameroon with his delegation and entrepreneurs in the field of defense and security. The aim of the mission was to support the intentions and projects of Czech companies and to strengthen the already existing ties between the two countries in the defense and security sector, and newly also in the field of mining and mining technologies.

PROPED, i.e. a project to support economic diplomacy, was attended by Czech companies of the Czechoslovak Group consortium: Excalibur International, Excalibur Army and Retia, which are already developing cooperation with the Cameroonian Armed Forces. Representatives of the Czech-Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, which has long been helping Czech companies find business partners in Cameroon, participated in the preparation of the visit in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria. The program included a courtesy visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, meetings with the Minister of Defense and, for the first time, with the Minister of Mining, Industry and Technological Development. The talks reaffirmed the Cameroonian interest in deepening and expanding mutual cooperation, which offers great potential for the Czech companies. As for the defense sector, the Deputy Minister of Defense and representatives of Czech companies, after a break caused by the pandemic, repeatedly invited their Cameroonian partners to visit the Czech Republic, where they can visit Czech manufacturers on the spot and get acquainted with Czech products and options directly.

Meeting at the Ministry of Mining, Industry and Technological Development revealed another important area for cooperation, which could build on the already well-registered name of the Czech company Geotechnika, which operated in Cameroon a few years ago. Cameroon welcomes any cooperation in mining, mineral processing, mining machinery and technology transfer.

The visit was another successful concretization of the Czech efforts to deepen relations with one of the most promising countries in Central Africa.

As a bonus, during the cultural part of the program, the Deputy Minister of Defense discovered Czech beer Budweiser in a local supermarket, which only demonstrates the well-established Czech-Cameroonian business relations :-)
