Czech aid in Nigeria: Toilets for a village community

On July 29, 2019, an opening ceremonial of new toilets took place in the Damgba community near Abuja. The facilities were built by the financial support of the Czech Republic together with the Cardinal Onaiyekan Peace Foundation (COPF).

The Czech Republic perceives the need to help in developing countries and thus contribute to improving the living conditions of people in the poorest areas. Thanks to the cooperation with the Nigerian Cardinal Onaiyekan Peace Foundation, the Czech Embassy in Nigeria, through the institute of the so-called small local project, contributed financially to the construction of toilets in the local community of Damgba near Abuja. Despite the logistical complications caused by measures against COVID-19, the project was successfully implemented and thanks to this project, the living and hygienic conditions of local settlers were improved.

On July 29, 2019, the grand opening of these facilities took place with the participation of representatives of the Peace Foundation, administrators of the village community and economic diplomat Beata Matusiková.
