
Concert of the Czech Soul singer Veru

Veronika Martinská, alias “Veru“, closed her series of concerts in Nigeria with a performance in a gallery Thought Pyramid Art Centre in Abuja. The event organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja was attended by almost hundred people.
The multiple talented artist Veru performed under the patronage of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in one of the prestigious galleries of the capital city of Nigeria on June 25, 2018. Veru, who graduated at the University of Chemistry and Technologies in Prague, started her singing career in the world known choir “Bambini di Praga”. During the concert, Veru was accompanying herself on a guitar, a piano and an ukulele. Besides her own songs, to which she composes music as well, she also sang her covers of world music artists such as Gabrielle Aplin or Adele. Veru sings and writes her songs in English, but beside that she has prepared four Czech songs for this occasion: “Krtek” from the band Buty, “Dobrák od kosti” from the musical group Chinaski, from the most famous Czech singer Karel Gott she chose the song “Trezor”, and “Sluneční hrob” from the band Blue Effect. The enthusiasm of the audience, who has been making videos of each song, reached its peak when they spontaneously joined Veronica during the song “Raw” by the artist Singrid which she was singing without any instruments or microphone. The Embassy of the Czech Republic was receiving positive feedback from the audience even few days after the event.
