
Ceremonial handover of the „Tied financial donation“ to the hospital in Ijebu-Ife, Ogun state

On November 29, 2021, a ceremonial handover of the “Tied financial donation” of the Czech Republic took place at the local hospital in Ijebu-Ife in Ogun State, Nigeria, in the form of hospital equipment for the intensive care unit and maternity ward. The equipment was made in Czech Republic, by LINET and MZ Liberec companies. It was the implementation of Czech government humanitarian aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, within the Program for Africa. The amount of the donation is CZK 10 million.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Governor of the State of Ogun, the Commissioner for Health of the State of Ogun, representatives of the Ijebu-Ife local government, management and hospital staff. For the Czech side Ambassador Mr. Zdeněk Krejčí, economic diplomat Mrs. Beata Matusiková, CzechTrade representative in Nigeria Mr. Štěpán Beneš and representatives of LINET Mr. Milan Matějů and MZ Liberec Mr. Václav Rohlena were in place. It was the first project of its kind in the country, which is the first step in establishing further bilateral cooperation with the Ogun State government. According to a LINET representative, the Ogun Ministry of Health has a serious interest in purchasing additional equipment for its hospitals based on this project. As part of the program of their trip to Nigeria, the representatives of the two Czech companies held several other meetings with potential Nigerian partners in both Abuja and Lagos, as recommended by CzechTrade and by the Economic and Trade Counsellor of the Embassy.
