On 28 October 2018, the National Day Reception was held in Hilton Nay Pyi Taw to celebrate the centenary of the Czech/Czechoslovak statehood.
As a part of the reception, the exhibition "Czech Fateful Dates", which had been already shown at the National Museum in Yangon from 15 to 22 September 2018, was presented here and a Burmese translation of the book Somewhere There is Still a Sun by Michael Gruenbaum, a writer of Czech origin, was officially launched. Michael Gruenbaum, now living in the United States, sent a video message to the participants of the reception, the broadcasting of which gave a lively response and suitably complemented the book's launch.
The government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar paid extraordinary attention to the Czech reception. In addition to the guest of honour, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, the event was also attended by U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister of the Office of the State Counsellor, U Hla Thein, President of the Election Commission and U Aye Tha Aung, Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw.
The Czech Fateful Dates exhibition moved to the National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw after the reception was over, and will stay there available for public for another 14 days.
