On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the exhibition "Czech Fateful Dates," prepared by our Embassy in cooperation with curator Dana Kyndrová and Czech Centers, was officially opened at the Myanmar National Museum in Yangon.
The exhibition takes place in the framework of celebrations of the Czech statehood and the important anniversaries that the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic commemorate this year. The date of its official opening was set on the International Day of Democracy, celebrated under the auspices of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yangon this year.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of representatives of local social and cultural life and the diplomatic community. The Guest of Honor on the Myanmar side was the Chief Minister of Yangon Region Mr. Phyo Min Thein, who, in the context of his visit to Prague last year, keeps a close relationship with the Czech Republic. Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Yangon, Mr. Kristian Schmidt also presented a speech during the opening ceremony.
The exhibition will stay in the National Museum until 22 September, allowing Myanmar visitors to see an exclusive selection of 60 photographs of twenty leading Czech and Slovak photographers who captured both the joyful and tragic atmosphere of the events in 1945, 1968, 1969 and 1989. The next destination of this presentation will be the capital of Myanmar Nay Pyi Taw.
