Israeli delegation of students in Boskovice

The Joe Alon Connection Program concluded its 4th year of activity with a reciprocal educational tour of the Israeli delegation to Boskovice.

Students from Zur Hadassah visited CR as a peak of the program, establishing relations and learning about long lasting friendship between Czech and Israelis.

At the end of June 2023, high school students of The Branco Weiss High School from Tzur Hadassah spent a week full of unique experiences and got to know Prague, Boskovice and its surroundings together with their Czech peers from Gymnázium Boskovice.

The students visited The Prague castle, Museum of Charles Bridge, the Jewish quarter and sailed on the Vltava River. In Boskovice they visited the synagogue and mikveh, and also the Veveří castle, Dolni Morava and Punkva caves. Not all on the same day!

This was a visit, after the December 2022 educational tour of the Czech students in Israel. The joined class travelled Israel, and saw many sights including Chatzerim Air Base in the Negev, the Museum of Bedouin Culture, the Herzl Museum and the Old City of Jerusalem, they also bathed in the Dead Sea, shopped at the Carmel market in Tel Aviv and been to the Anu Museum of the Jewish people.

The project, established in 2019, is named after the late Colonel Joe Alon (Placzek), (1929-1973) a descendant of a Czech father. Joe was trained as a pilot in Czechoslovakia in 1948, and was one of the founders of the Israeli Air Force. First commander of Chatzerim airbase and air attaché in Washington, USA. Married to Dvora and a father of three daughters.
