Czech Embassy and Slovak Liaison Office commemorated 30th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution

On November 20, 2019, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Liaison Office of the Slovak Republic in Pristina commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in the representative premises of the Kosovo National Library "Pjetër Bogdani". 120 distinguished guests attended the event.  

The event entitled “30 Years of Democracy” included the opening of the “The Velvet Revolution” photo exhibition, photos from groundbreaking events in Slovakia and the presentation of the documentary “The Bright Spot”, which was screened during the event and the event. The opening of the exhibition was followed by a reception.

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj, KFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Shawn Harris, and many other distinguished guests, attended the event. 

Representatives of Kosovo's political, economic and cultural life as well as Czech members of KFOR and EULEX together with guests from the diplomatic corps and international missions represented in Kosovo attended a social event entitled "30 Years of Democracy". 

The exhibition brings together several dozen photographs of leading Czech and Slovak photographers capturing the breakthrough moments of modern Czech history that led to the fall of the communist dictatorship. The Velvet Revolution brought to former Czechoslovakia the way for the dissolution of the totalitarian regime and gave to a country a direction of European future.  

 The exhibition will be open, for public, from 21 November 2019 to 1 December 2019.
