Important Notice: Hungary will temporarily represent the Czech Republic regarding Schengen visas in Manila

From April 15, 2024, to May 31, 2024, the Czech Republic will be represented by Hungary regarding Schengen visas in Manila. This temporary measure is necessary due to the ongoing complex reconstruction of the premises of the Czech Embassy in Manila, which renders it unable to process Schengen visa applications.

According to Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code), Hungary has kindly agreed to short term representation of the Czech Republic for the purpose of processing applications and issuing Schengen (short-term) visas on behalf of the Czech Republic in the Philippines.

Applicants must ensure that their applications meet the requirements set by Hungary, as they will be the designated authority responsible for deciding on visa issuance. This representation arrangement allows applicants to submit their visa applications in Manila if their main travel destination is the Czech Republic since the Czech Embassy cannot process Schengen visa applications due to ongoing reconstruction.

The Embassy also wishes to inform that the representation will be limited. Not only for the designated period of time as mentioned above but also from to point of view of the number of processed applications which will be limited. In addition, only travelers for tourist, business and visit purposes will be accepted.

Please note that visa and VFS service fees established for Hungarian applications will be applied. Information on the fees, the documents to be submitted and the appointment reservation system can be accessed on the VFS webpage.

The Embassy reiterates that this ad hoc agreement does not cover the situations of applicants wishing to travel to Slovakia. Neither Czech Republic nor Hungary currently represent Slovakia in the Schengen visa agenda.
