On Thursday, October 19 2023, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad, in collaboration with Tabadlab, a local think-tank with a global perspective, organized a seminar entitled "Global Energy Transition", which forms a part of the Agenda 2030 project and aimed to create a platform for a stimulating discussion on issues related to sustainable sourcing of critical raw materials. Mr. Michal Čepelka, a Czech expert on critical raw materials from the Association for International Affairs (AIA), was invited to give presentation at the seminar, followed by an expert panel discussion, headed by moderator and director at Tabadlab, Mr Zeeshan Salahuddin.
The main topics of discussion included the importance of critical raw materials for industrialization, economic development and environmental protection. European Union legislation addressing the security of these supply chains was also discussed in detail. In his presentation, Mr. Čepelka discussed the growing demand for critical raw materials and their geopolitical importance.
The panel discussion focused on energy security, taxation, and European Union standards as they relate to Pakistan. Participants emphasized that effectively addressing the challenges of energy transition requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach.
This seminar served as a key platform for dialogue between the Czech Republic, the European Union and Pakistan and set a precedent for future cooperation in the field of sustainable development and energy security.
