Opening of Renáta Fučíková's double exhibition in Ireland

On May 17th 2022 an opening of two exhibitions by renowned Czech illustrator, artist and writer, Mrs. Renáta Fučíková, took place in Dún Laoghaire. The exhibitions are organized by the Czech Embassy in Dublin in cooperation with the DLR Lexicon Cultural Center. The exhibition is open to the public until June 30, 2022.

Mrs. Renáta Fučíková, who has won many Czech and foreign awards, brought to Ireland the exhibition "Czech Heroines" - an illustrated mosaic of stories of important Czech women - queens, politicians, artists, scientists and athletes, which is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the enactment of equal suffrage for Czechoslovak women in 2020; and the exhibition "Good 100" - a set of illustrations of selected most important moments in the history of the Republic from the founding of Czechoslovakia to the present.

The inauguration of the exhibition was opened by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ireland, Mr. Petr Kynštetr. In his speech, he praised the great importance of Mrs. Fučíková's work and also underlined its international reach. The opening ceremony was also attended by Lettie McCarthy, Mayor of Dun Laoghaire. The introductory speeches were followed by an interview with Mrs. Fučíková, led by a professor of Czech at Trinity College Dublin, dr. Jana van der Ziel Fischer. They talked about the author's works and her motivation to create, including both illustration and her own literary works for children and adult readers. After the interview, Moravian songs were performed by Czech musicians living in Ireland - Kateřina García and Běta Bajgart.
