Czech hop to Irish beer 

An Irish brewery delegation   visited the  Czech  town   of  Žatec, to understand the richness of the Czech hops heritage, with the view of using Czech hops in their Irish beer production. 

The   economic   diplomacy project  “ Incoming  mission   of  Irish   brewers to the hop  growing  region-Žatec“  was   organized  by  the  Czech  Embassy   in Dublin and  the   Ministry  of  Agriculture   of   the  Czech Republic,  was  a  follow -up to  the " Czech- Irish   Hobs  Export  Webinar "   which   took  place in  November  2021. 

The   visit  included a tour of the  Hop Museum of Žatec,  presentations   of   companies  Chmelařství Žatec, Bohemia Hop, Hop  Research  Institute and  Agrofarm   Lešenice   including   its  production   space  and  hop  fields .  The  visit  was   concluded  by  beer   tasting  in  a microbrewery Pioneer  with  a  lecture  on the use  of  different   varieties   of  hop  for   brewing  top-fermented   beers and   lagers . 

This was the first Irish brewery delegation to visit the Czech Republic, starting a new chapter in Czech -Irish hops and brewing collaboration. The visit was of great interest by the Irish and Czech side which is was starting point of opening up Czech hops distribution and use of Czech hops in Irish brewing.
