Successful implementation and completion of a new project to help Empowering of women and unemployed young in Homs

In the calendar year 2023, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Damascus successfully implemented a new project to help Empowering of women and unemployed young in Homs as part of the "Small Scale Projects" initiative.
These projects were designed to provide support to various Syrian entities and charitable organizations. The funding for these endeavors was sourced from the Czech government's "Reconstruction Program for the Czech Republic in the Middle East region for the period 2022-2024."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is contributing to mitigate the consequences of the conflict in Syria and the overall recovery of the country in the most affected areas.

 

  • Project title: "Empowering of women and unemployed young in Homs“
  • Implementer: Church of Umm al Zinar for Syriac Orthodox in cooperation Emessa Academy in Homs, Syria.
  • FDC CZ contribution: CZK 454,000

The aim of this project was to carry out a vocational training project with the aim of empowering unemployed women and youth in order to enable them to carry out their small projects, enter the labor market, help those stays in their areas, and restore life to them after the destruction they suffered due to the war.

By supporting this project, more than 36 people were trained within each 20 training course over a period of three months and free of charge. More than 720 trainees were graduated and were able to enter the labor market due to their acquisition of skills.

The training courses include courses in Installing solar energy and studying the technical feasibility of each project, training in craft professions such as blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, etc., training courses in cosmetic professions such as hairdressing and makeup artist, training courses in hotel and hosting management and the food sector, training courses in computer skills such as programming and graphic design, in addition to training courses in business administration, Financial and marketing management.
