Czech humanitarian aid delivered to Syria

On December 12, 2016 a new shipment of humanitarian aid was delivered to Syria as a part of the Czech governmental program of providing humanitarian, developmental and reconstruction assistance to Syria in the years 2016 through 2019.

The consignment contained dried milk, dialysis unit, defibrillators and toys for children. The humanitarian aid was provided by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Czech Red Cross and the Administration of State Material Reserves of the Czech Republic. Distribution of the aid inside the country will be carried out by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.

At the same time, from December 12 – 16, 2016, a group of members of the Committee on Petitions of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Syria. The MPs Zuzka Bebarová Rujbrová (KSČM), Radim Holeček (ODS) and Leo Luzar (KSČM) held there talks on the situation within the region, on ensuring humanitarian access to all parts of the country, as well as on bilateral Czech-Syrian relations. During their visit, they met representatives of international humanitarian organizations, their counterparts from the Syrian Parliament, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Walid Muallem, Minister of Local Administration Hussein Makhlouf and Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar.
