Another successfully completed project of a development tool for tied financial donation - equipment for hospital in Syria

In June 2020, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Damascus completed another development assistance project with the Syrian University Hospital Tishreen in Latakiya. This is one of the pilot projects provided to this Syrian hospital as part of a tied financial donation to equip the emergency department. The supplier of medical equipment and tools was the Czech company Tems - Group s.r.o.

The involvement of a Czech business entity in humanitarian and development projects in Syria was made possible by the implementation of a new instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, which connects humanitarian and development assistance needs - it is a tied financial donation provided to a Syrian recipient for specific development assistance from the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic thus contributed almost CZK 5 million to medical equipment and supplies in this project. This support was provided in the framework of the Government of the Czech Republic "Provision of Humanitarian, Development and Reconstruction Assistance to Syria 2016-2019", Continuing in 2020 – 2021“. The realization of these tied financial donation projects allows Czech companies to map a business opportunity on a complicated, but potentially very interesting Syrian market and to facilitate trade relations with Syrian partners. In their other business and export activities, Czech exporters can thus rely on the already acquired positive reference and knowledge of the local business environment.
