Travel advice for Lebanon

Due to the attacks from the Gaza Strip on the southern and central part of Israel and on borders with Lebanon, the danger increased in the whole country, mainly south of Beirut and the surroundings of Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beirut therefore warn citizens against all travel to Lebanon and advises its citizens to  check validity of their passports and their insurance and leave Lebanon immediately. Airports may suddenly pause operations due to heightened security concerns. We recommend following the local media and respecting the instructions of the security forces.

Protests and demonstrations continue to occur with varying intensity. The security situation can quickly deteriorate, mainly in Shiite areas and the areas of the Palestinian refugee camps Ain al-Hilweh, Burj al-Barajneh, but also in other locations.

On January 2, 2024, a rocket attack occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The situation is unpredictable and further escalation and expansion of the dispute cannot be ruled out. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic warns of possible escalation and recommends avoiding places with a large concentration of people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic repeatedly calls on its citizens to leave the country by commercial flights and warns against all trips to the country.

On March 7, 2024 a rocket attack occurred in northeastern Lebanon's Baalbek, close to Dar al- Amal Hospital. The attack has also occured on February 26, 2024 in Baalbek.

If you are already in the country, be cautious, exercise extreme caution, avoid places of demonstrations or large concentrations of people, and leave Lebanon as soon as possible. It is essential to follow the instructions of the local security forces and monitor the current development of the situation online.
